Tennikoit sports to be introduces at school level:Chib

JAMMU: Saying that Tennikoit sport will be introduced at school level, Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Mr R.S. Chib said that the game requires less space, equipment and infrastructure.
The Minister was speaking at the concluding function of 36th Senior National Tennikoil championship (men and women). The 5th day championship had commenced on November 12 in which 24 teams comprising 384 participants and 45 officials participated.
The Minister said many more such national events would be organized in future, adding that these provide an opportunity of interaction among participants to know about the culture of one another.
Referring to provision of Tennikoit coaches for the players of State, Secretary General, Tennikoit Federation of India Mr B. S. Nagraj said that necessary arrangement would be made for the purpose. He was also honoured for his outstanding service in the promotion of Tennikoit sports in the country.
Mr Kiran wattal apprised that 140 matches of various categories were played during the tournament.
Mr Ishaq said that presently J&K Tennikoit Association is working in 15 districts of the State.
The overall championship went to Andhra Pradesh in which D. Rama Devi of Andhra Pradesh was declared India’s number one player in women category.
Later, the Minister gave a trophy, medals and cash prizes among the players. The participants from various States presented colorful cultural programme on the occasion.
Among others, Secretary General, Tenni-koit Federation of India Mr. B S Nagraj, Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council Mr Kiran Wattal, Chief Patron, JKTKA Col. Sheetal Singh, President, , JKTKA Mr. Ishfaq Pandit, General Secretary, , JKTKA Mr. Mohammad Ishaq, besides members of State Sports Council and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
