Teenage girl gangraped in J-K, 4 arrested

Jammu, Dec 10 : Four persons were arrested for allegedly abducting and gangraping a 15-year-old girl here, police said today.

“On December 2 this year, Surinder Kumar a resident of Akhnoor lodged a complaint with Police that his minor daughter went missing on November 12,” a police spokesperson said.

He said that police initiated a probe and it was established that one Gulshan Kumar, a resident of Pathankot in Punjab, had kidnapped the victim.

“A police team constituted to trace the missing girl, recovered her from Kumar’s house in Pathankot and brought back to Jammu,” he said.

During the course of investigation, the girl disclosed that she had been sexually exploited by several people of Akhnoor town particularly those having business in the area, he said.

The victim’s statement was recorded before a Magistrate and several people were booked under rape charges.

“On the basis of the statement four persons namely Pawan Kumar, Amit Mahajan, Hardeep Tangotra and Anil Magotra have been arrested so far and the manhunt is going on to nab the other accused involved in the case as per the statement of the victim,” the spokesperson said.
