JAMMU: J&K Teachers Forum today held an emergency meeting under the patronage of its Chairman Mr. Abdul Qayoom Wani. In the meeting Mr. Wani raised the issues being faced by the education department especially after it was rendered headless during the winters. During the meeting it was unanimously observed that after the resignation of Education Minister (Peerzada Mohammad Syeed), the education department literally underwent shambles as there was none to look after the department and guide it through at the apex. Mr. Wani further mentioned that more than seven districts in the state were without C.E.O’s, thousands of lecturer posts were lying vacant, more than 100 principal posts in the education department remained unoccupied, confirmation files of E.V’s still remained undecided. Moreover, the Cabinet decision regarding regularization of in charge head masters/ lecturers had not been implemented. Also too many posts of Z.E.O’s were lying vacant in each and every district. More than 20,000 subject teachers’ posts were lying vacant in education department in addition to the problems of R-e-T’s which still remained as unsolved as ever. Mr. Wani in the meeting raised the question that under such conditions how was it possible for a common man to expect justice to be done to his ward?
The members of the forum said that on one side everybody on the hot seat claimed in the highest of their tenors that education department was a priority sector for the authorities and on the other side the same sector with which the future of our society remained involved was headless and in a dilapidated condition with nobody giving a heed to it and coming forward to take up the responsibility for its rehabilitation.
In the meeting the Chairman appealed the hon’ble Chief Minister to personally intervene and look into the matter and come out with a substantiate plan of panacea for the ailing department with due emphasis on the appointment of an able Minister to head the same otherwise the whole teaching fraternity would be left with no alternative than to raise their cry aloud against the derailed system. The Chairman Teachers Forum also appealed the officers of education department not to succumb to the pressure of politicians and not give any room to allow political interference in the department which happened to be the root cause of corruption, favoritism, redtapism and injustice in the education department.
In the meeting the role of ex education minister Peerzada Mohammadd Sayeed was also highlighted and unanimously hailed. The members in the meeting included: Ganesh Khajuria, Deepak Chabra, Gh. Mohamad Hamdard, Bhupinder Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Darshan Ji, Gopal Singh Tofani, ,Jamayat Ali, Gopal Sharma and other senior leaders of the teachers forum. (KMW NEWS)
