Srinagar, Nov 5 : A general strike called by separatists in protest against the killing of two youths in Army firing in central Kashmir district of Badgam on November 3 evening, affected normal life in the Kashmir valley.
Shops and business establishments in the curfew free areas of summer capital, Srinagar, which were functioning after the floods in September, remained closed for the second day today.
Traffic was also off the roads and work in government offices, banks and other public undertakings was affected due to strike today. However, life was affected due to restrictions imposed by the authorities to prevent Muharram procession yesterday.
