JAMMU: District Poonch has recorded ninety percent expenditure against the annul plan allocation for the year 2011- 12 till January end.
This was revealed at the District Development Board (DDB) meeting which was chaired by Board Chairman, Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services and Sports Mr. R S Chib.
Minister of State for Haj and Aquaf Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, who is also Vice-Chairman of the District Development Board, Poonch, Vice-Chairperson, J&K State Advisory Board for Scheduled Caste Mrs. Swarn Lata, Vice-Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for OBC Mr. Kuldeep Verma, Chairperson, Vice-Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for development of Gujjars and Bakerwals Mr. B A Naaz, J&K State Advisory Board for development of Pahari Speaking People Mr. M A Bukhari, Vice- Chairman, J&K Kissan Welfare Board Mr. Rashpal Singh, besides Legislators, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan, Aijaz Ahmad Jan, Jehangir Hussain Khan and Javid Ahmad Rana were present in the meeting.
The Minister reviewed sector wise physical and financial achievements and sought information about the status of implementation of the decisions taken during the last board meeting. He also sought information about the status of micro and mega projects taken up in the district during the current annual plan.
The Minister asked the District Administration Poonch to implement the decisions taken in DDB Meeting in letter and spirit. He warned the officers against any laxity in this regard and said that fulfilling public aspirations was the priority of the government.
Responding to the concern shown by the members over poor results in government schools and attachment of teachers, he directed the concerned authority to furnish the list of attached teachers at the earliest. He said that increments of some teachers have also been stopped for their poor performance.
Giving brief account of the financial and physical achievements of projects being executed under various state and centrally sponsored schemes in the district, District Development Commissioner, Poonch Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu said that out of total approved outlay of Rs. 3626.60 lakh, Rs. 3258. 45 lakh has been spent, adding that the rest allocation would be utilized timely. He assured that the targets set for completion of on-going projects would be fully achieved by the end of this fiscal.
The meeting was informed that Rs. 3589.88 lakh were spent under education sector and 96 primary schools were opened, 80 Primary schools upgraded to Middle standard under SSA, besides 5 Middle School were upgraded to High School level under RMSA. Besides, 35431 students belong to Gujjar and Bakerwal were provided scholarship, besides free text books and mid-day meals and construction of kitchen shed were provided under the sector.
An amount of Rs. 2280.73 was expended under MGNREGA out of total outlay of Rs. 9924.73 lakh while 6316 works were taken up, of which, 2361 completed by generating 10.87 lakh mandays. Similarly, 1931 students of SC and OBC categories were provided Pre-matric scholarship, besides out of 21 candidates, examination fee of 16 students was re-imburshed under Social Welfare sector, the meeting was informed.
The meeting was apprised that 25 kilometres of road, 16 number of D-xing and 1495 mtrs of walling was completed by spending Rs. 90 lakh under Central Road Fund scheme.
The meeting was informed that work on construction of buildings of 8 Sub-centre, 6 Medical officers quarters and 10 Allopathic Dispensaries is going on in full swing. Besides, 17725 fruit saplings would be planted under horticulture sector, the meeting was told.
Under NABARD, 92 km road was blacktopped, shingled, metalled and improved besides 92 culverts and causeways were also constructed in the district.
Among others, Secretary, Planning and Development Mr. G R Bhagat, heads of various departments, Chief Engineers of PDD, PHE, PDC, R&B and senior officers of line departments attended the meeting. (KMW NEWS)Â
