‘Stop looking Kashmiris with the suspicion of militants’ Omar

Srinagar: Expressing concern over the harassment facing by Kashmiris outside the state, Chief Minister, Omar Obdullah, appealed the Chief Ministers of the states of India not to look Kashmiris with the ‘suspicion of militants.’
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the launch of ‘Himayat Project’ at the Kashmir University, here in Srinagar, Omar Obdullah, said, “There are apprehensions among the parents not to send their wards outside the state because of the harassment they (youths) faces outside the state. But I appealed Chief Ministers of all the states of India not to look Kashmiris with the suspicion of militants. Every Sikh was not a terrorist; similarly every Kashmiri is not a terrorist.”
He said, majority of the Kashmiri youth wants to support their family and moves outside the state for employment opportunities. “Under the Himayat project, we will send youths outside the state to work there in different companies. However, if they faces any harassment by looking over them with suspicion there, it could create problems and hindrances in this project,” he claims.
Replying to a question that, will state government open the cinemas in the state, Chief Minister, said, cinemas have been a private sector.”It is not the governments job to establish cinemas nor with the government to subsidize it.”
Chief Minister confirmed that state government was not in the business of either establishing cinemas or subsidizes it.
“If any body from the private sector wants to establish cinema in the Jammu and Kashmir state, we would be happy to look into it,” he said.
He said that government sector would not eliminate the unemployment in the state, ‘nor any country or state has been able to do so’.
“We will generate the employment opportunities in the government sector but will also set up private sector here for the elimination of unemployment in the state,” Omar said.
