NEW DELHI: On the occasion of the State Day celebration at Lal Chowk Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi the Minister for Industries and Commerce Mr. Surjeet Singh Slathia who was accompanied by Minister of State for Industry and Commerce, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma and Minister of State for Power Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan highlighted the achievements made in the industries and handicrafts sector of the state. The Jammu and Kashmir pavilion at Pragati Maidan has attracted about 3 lakh visitors since its inauguration on November 14. The theme of this year’s Trade Fair is “The magic of gifted hands†related to handicraft and handloom sector. The State of J&K has also presented its show in consonance with the thematic expression and very exquisite and exotic collections of handicraft goods have been put on display and sale in the Trade Fair. 32 stalls have been erected to portray the rich craft heritage of the state.
Various government departments including Tourism, SIDCO, SICOP, Women Development Corporation, Handicrafts, Handloom, POSHISH, J&K Industries, Khadi and Village industries, J&K Agro industries, and the handicrafts dealers associated with Kashmir Chamber of commerce, Federation of Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) and Artisan federation are participating in the show.
A magnificent cultural show was held at Lal Chowk Theatre where the folk dances of all the three regions of the state were presented. The audiences were thrilled by the performance of the folk artists and appreciated them with thunderous applauses.
