JAMMU: Mr. G. R. Sufi, State Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) accompanied by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Sharma and Mr. Nazir Ahmed, State Information Commissioners (SICs), called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, here this evening.
During more than an hour long meeting, the Governor, CIC and the two SICs discussed several important matters relating to the vital role of the State Information Commission in furthering the interests of good governance by exposing deviation from the norm and enhancing accountability. The Governor observed that corrupt practices in different arenas, at various levels, will reduce significantly if the Commission is able to effectively discharge its high responsibility.
Mr. Sufi briefed the Governor about the measures being taken for creating greater awareness among the people about their rights under the J&K Right to Information Act, 2009.
