Srinagar, May 08: At a time when speed, accuracy, and independence in journalism are often compromised in the race for digital clicks or due to overreliance on syndicated content, The Daily Srinagar E Jang has quietly but powerfully reaffirmed what responsible journalism looks like.
In its May 7, 2025 edition, Srinagar E Jang was the only newspaper in Jammu and Kashmir to report on the high-level and sensitive “Operation Sindoor” a development that most other publications either missed or covered belatedly through news agency feeds.
The report, published within hours of the operation, is not only a testament to the newspaper’s newsroom efficiency but also an example of what it means to be committed to public interest journalism. At a time when many Urdu newspapers shy away from real-time field reporting, instead waiting for vetted agency copy, this bold and timely coverage sets a new benchmark.
Much of the credit goes to young and dynamic Bilal Bashir Bhat, the paper’s editor, whose leadership has transformed Srinagar E Jang into a reliable, proactive, and respected voice in the region’s media ecosystem. His editorial guidance continues to push the boundaries of conventional reporting, encouraging original content over recycled narratives.
This instance is more than just a one-day success, it is a reflection of a broader philosophy that values truth, urgency, and accountability.
It is now incumbent upon media bodies, press councils, and policymakers to take note of such commitment. Journalism of this quality must not only be acknowledged but actively encouraged.
Srinagar E Jang’s performance on May 7 should not be seen as an exception, but as an example worth emulating.
