SRINAGAR: According to Spokesperson of J&K Legislative Assembly, “Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone has in a press statement contested a news item carried by a section of press today regarding a Bill notice whereof given by the Members of PDP, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain and Mr. Rafi Ahmed Mir suggesting therein some amendments in Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act 1989 with the contention that the Bill was received by the Assembly secretariat on September 18, 2012 instead of September 10, 2012 the date earmarked for giving notices of AQs and Bills. He has further said that every member of the House was asked by his Secretariat to give notices of AQs, Bills and Resolutions by or before the specified date which has not been followed by the above mentioned two members in this case that is why the Bill received after the expiry of the specified time was disallowed by him in accordance with the rules. He further said that the contention of the leader of the largest opposition party Mehbooba Mufti is misleading and totally in contravention to the rule position and the allegations leveled in this behalf against his Secretariat are baseless and carry no substance. He also said that every member of the House is in know of things that any notice given in this behalf after the expiry of the specified time tantamount to inadmissibility whether given by members of any political party. He has termed the allegations leveled against his institution as most unfortunate”. (KMW News)
