Srinagar, May 30(KMW): Two LeT militants were killed in an encounter that began today morning and lasted for several hours, according to a J&K Police spokesman. The gunfight broke out during a cordon and search operation at Dangerpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

According to the spokesman, the operation was launched following a credible tip-off about the presence of the militants in the area.

During the search operation, the militants fired on the search party. The fire was returned leading to a gunfight, the spokesman said.

The spokesman also said that the bodies of the two militants were retrieved but no identity was ascertained as yet.
