CM Omar Abdullah takes up Srinagar Airport closure issue with Defence, Civil Aviation Ministers in New Delhi

Srinagar, Nov 1 (KMW): Blaming the political mainstream for the prevailing ‘mess’ in Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Ali Geelani, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) today said the people should completely boycott the coming Parliament and Assembly polls, otherwise the same shall be deemed as betrayal with the sacrifices made by the people in the ongoing movement.
Addressing a well attended gathering at Iqbal Market Sopore, Geelani observed that Autonomy, Self Rule or any other formula proposed by the mainstream political spectrum will not be acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah is responsible for the mess witnessed by Kashmir since 1947. He gave thousands of kanals land to army to settle in Kashmir. This is how India occupied our territory and is suppressing and oppressing our people with its arrogant force,” he added.
The senior separatist leader condemned the lease agreements with army at various places in Valley. “It is the Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who gave hundreds of Kanals of land to army in Tosamaidain on lease. Similarly land was given to army at various places by National Conference including Shopian.”
Geelani ridiculed the speculations that his house confinement was over under a plan to favour some particular political party. He said that for him all the mainstream political parties including National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Congress and the Third Front are equally to be blamed for being, “collaborators” of India for its ‘continuous occupation of Jammu and Kashmir’.
He flayed Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s claim that if PDP is given 40 seats in the state, it will resolve the Kashmir issue. Geelani said that it is beyond the jurisdiction of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to resolve the Kashmir issue and making such claims are just to hoodwink the people.
According to KMW Correspondent, the senior separatist leader said the mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir are power hungry and for the lust of power, they have even sold forest, power and water resources of the state to government of India. “The political mainstream of Jammu and Kashmir have always been brokers of our natural resources especially our precious water resources for their own chair. They have sold our natural resources to government of India in lieu of their positions,” the Hurriyat (G) chairman remarked.
Geelani said unfortunately the United Nations has also failed in its responsibility in facilitating a peaceful resolution of Jammu and Kashmir under the guidelines of its own resolutions adopted from time to time. “The UNO and other international bodies want to keep India in a good humor and that is why they have sofar failed to resolve this vexed issue. But come what may our struggle will continue till its logical conclusion which is based on right to self determination,” Geelani stressed.
Earlier, thousands of people gave a rousing reception to Geelani, after his arrival in Sopore the place he visited after three years since his brother passed away in 2011. “A conspiracy was hatched to sabotage my rally in 2011 when an Indian ‘prince’ was ostensibly arrested by police along with a pistol. He was however freed. But this all was done to sabotage my visit to Sopore.”
After his post Friday prayer address at Iqbal Market Sopore, Geelani visited the Doabgah residence of Afzal Guru, the parliament attack convict to express condolences to the bereaved family.
He was accompanied by Mohammad Ashraf Sehraie, the senior Hurriyat (G) leader. According to KNS correspondent, police tried to foil Geelani’s march from Sopore to Doabgah, after some people pelted stones on a nearby police vehicle. The police used tear smoke shells and batons to disperse the people raising pro-freedom slogans but the march towards Doabgah did not relent.
Interestingly, after reaching the residence of late Guru, Geelani criticized and strongly condemned stone pelting incident during his rally. “These incidents are a handiwork of agencies as they want to sabotage our movement. Those indulging in stone pelting can never be supporters of our movement but these elements want to malign and portray this movement in a wrong way,” Geelani observed.
He said discipline is the essence of any movement and without discipline no movement can reach to its logical conclusion. The senior separatist leader alleged that over 26000 Village Defense Committee members are the members of RSS and BJP and they have been appointed under a ‘well knit plan’. He appealed people to raise their voice if army, police or paramilitary force tries to occupy the old hospital buildings in Baramulla and Sopore. The senior separatist leader later returned Srinagar.
