Sopore attack leaves two Cops, three Civilians Dead

Srinagar 12 June: Two cops, three civilians died and several persons got injured including a cop during a militant attack on security forces in Arampora area of north Kashmir’s Sopore on Saturday.
Officials said that militants opened fire towards a joint team of Police and Central Reserve Police Force at a checkpoint in Arampora area.
During the attack, a total of 7 persons sustained critical injuries in the militant attack, which included four cops and three civilians. They were shifted to sub-district hospital Sopore, where two cops and two civilians were declared dead.
After sometime one more civilian died .
Moreover, the three others injured in the militant attack were being treated at the hospital. After the attack, security forces sealed the area in order to catch the attackers behind the attack.
However, the Jammu and Kashmir police chief Dilbag Singh said that the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant outfit was behind the attack.
Singh further said that the force was deployed for Covid duty when the attack took place.
Regarding the attack, LG Manoj Sinha tweeted “Strongly condemn the terror attack on civilians and security personnel at Sopore, Baramulla. My sincere condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this attack. Praying for the early recovery of the injured.”
He further said that the perpetrators of violence are the enemies of humanity. Such despicable & cowardly act will not go unpunished.
