Srinagar: The movement of traffic on 300-kilometer Srinagar-Jammu highway was hit this evening following fresh snowfall near Jawarahar tunnel, official sources said.
They said that about six inches of fresh snow accumulated near the tunnel, hitting the traffic movement on all important highways.
“It is still snowing on both sides of the tunnel including Qazigund, leading to slowing down of traffic” SSP Traffic Rural, GM Wadoo told.
“We are monitoring the situation and decision about the movement or otherwise of the highway would be taken tomorrow,” he added.
However, sources said, many vehicles were stranded on the highway and authorities were making an effort to clear the stuck traffic.
