Srinagar, Aug 21: Maisuma, the historical area of Srinagar City representing the cultural, historic ethos of Kashmir is witnessing brazen violation of Construction norms and Master Plan .These violations have augmented more after floods as more than eighty percent actual permissions sought for residential constructions are not implemented in letter and spirit and converted into commercial purposes. Gulzar Ahmad, a local stated – ” Maisuma area is the heart of valley of Kashmir but authorities seem to have turned a blind eye towards this area, as we all know floods wrecked havoc in this area but selfish populace in name of getting permissions for residential constructions are converting same unlawfully into commercial purposes without any check from Srinagar Municipal Corporation.” Masses state that Maisuma violations in construction norms do not only represent SMC failure but also Srinagar Development Authority SDA failure as they too have failed to overview implementation of Master Plan. Maisuma being converted into jungle of construction courtesy SMC and SDA.
