Srinagar, August 5: Taking a significant step towards a cleaner and more sustainable Srinagar, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has launched a special sanitation drive in major markets of the Srinagar city. This initiative, part of the Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign, focuses on enhancing cleanliness standards and promoting eco-friendly practices.

With the objective of fostering a cleaner environment, SMC has deployed teams of sanitation workers to ensure that the bustling markets of Srinagar remain free of litter. The corporation’s commitment in creating a greener city is exemplified through this concerted effort to improve overall hygiene and cleanliness.

In line with its sustainability goals, the SMC distributed Eco-friendly bags to both shopkeepers and consumers. These reusable and biodegradable bags serve as an environment friendly alternative to single-use plastic bags, aiming to reduce plastic waste and encourage sustainable living practices in the Srinagar city.
