New Delhi/San Francisco, Apr 27 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on her official visit to the US, on Wednesday met top women executives in the Silicon Valley.
The women CXOs, representing various fields including fintech, health, education and IT among others discussed the ways through which they could continue to contribute to India’s growth story.
During the meeting, Finance Minister highlighted various government initiatives that are focussed on women-led development, such as schemes for SHGs (self-help groups) and Direct Benefit Transfer that have especially benefited rural women.
Sitharaman mentioned about Mudra Yojana saying it has empowered women entrepreneurs.
She also quoted examples of strong, empowered and inspiring women from ancient Indian scriptures adding that today’s women are also no less and have the potential to innovate and reach new heights in their journey through own technological and digital stewardship.
