Uri, June 16: The vacant post of Sub Divisional Magistrate, Uri from the last two months has badly affected the works of SDM office Uri and people are the worst suffers.
According to reports, following the retirement of SDM Uri two months ago, the authorities have not filled up the post with the result the key project of central government is badly affected in the area and people are also the worst suffers. Reports said scores of land acquisition cases have been completed by the authorities but are pending for want of final approval of the collector.
Reports suggest that the non-availability of the collector has badly hampered PMGSY as the locals whose land had been acquired for road construction are not allowing the authorities to start the work as their payments are withheld.
Panchayat Association Uri comprising of 13 surpanch’s of 13 different villages of LOC Uri on Tuesday registered a huge protest in the town against the vacant post of Sub divisional magistrate uri.
Chairman surpanch Association Uri Shabir Ahmad Naik while expressing his anguish and disappointment to the administration told “Kashmir Media watch” that “we are public representatives and we are supposed to work for the people. Due to the empty govt offices our people are suffering a lot”.
The people are quite aghast over the state government’s apathetic attitude towards Uri is unacceptable to us and demanded SDM in Uri as soon as possible. Several delegations contacted “Kashmir Media watch” Correspondent and sought immediate relief.
The residents said that they are facing numerous problems with respect to the various matters related to the SDM office adding that repeated pleas in this regard have fallen on deaf ears.
It is notable to mention here that many KAS / IAS officers of Uri town are serving in other parts of the state and nation and they should be given a chance to serve their own place as they knows how to win the minds and hearts of the people and maintained work culture and good governance.
Sources told “Kashmir media watch” that due to absence of SDM, besides leaving the people to lurch, the official work has also got affected. They said that all the works that need sanction from Sub Divisional Magistrate are pending, people visit here for the want of, Dependent Certificate, Verifications, SRO cases documentation, Revenue Documentation, Backward Documents (RBI) and all other necessary works are returning disappointed.
“We have many cases and files pending here for long now. Some have to be checked and given final nod but the absence of SDM has almost made us handicapped,” the official at SDM’s office said.Meanwhile, the residents appealed higher ups to intervene into the matter so that people here could heave a sigh of relief.
