Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission in its Annual report has taken a dig on the state government for not filling up the vacancies ‘urgently’ required to be filled up by the government.
SHRC’s three-member panel, Amalok Singh, Rafiq Fida and Javid Kawoos in its report has claimed that the working of the Commission has got affected, as the government is taking no interest in filling up the vacant posts.
“The Governmnet is well aware of the fact that the Commission is presently working without Chairperson and a member. Besieds, Chairperson there is vacancy of on member as well, in the Constitution of the Commission as provided under section 03 of the Act,†the report reads.
The Annual report of SHRC further states that this matter is being agitated and reagitated by the fourth estate day-in-and day-out, which does not go well with the working of the Commission and also the vacancies of the Hon’ble Chairperson and on member has increased the work load and has naturally effected the working of the Commission.
“We hope that the vacancies will be filled up without any further wastage of time,†the report reads.
The report further states that the officers and officials who by transfer, retirement cease to be on the establishment of the Commission, the Government has not taken any step for the last more than one year to fill up these vacancies by deputing suitable officers against the posts.
“The vacancies against the Commission have adversely affected the smooth working of the Commission, so it is desirable that all the vacancies are filled up by deputing suitable officers,†the report reads.
