Srinagar: Kashmir Bar association Wednesday took out a protest rally against the killing of four people in the alleged firing
by central reserve police force (CRPF) at Gagran,Shopian in south Kashmir on September 7.According to news agency Lawyers Suspending work in the afternoon, and assembled at High court premises and took out a protest rally. As soon as the Saddar Court layers reached the main gate, a heavy police posse impeded the march by closing the gate. However the agitating lawyers, chanting pro-freedom slogans, managed to come out. The lawyers of High court and Sadar court thereafter, took out a procession from High Court complex which passed through Jahangir Chowk, Budshah Chowk, Regal Chowk, Press Enclave, Lal Chowk and ended
at Sadder court Srinagar. During the procession, the lawyers chanted slogans. The members denounced Zubin Mehta and the Omar Abdullah Govt and held them responsible for the killing in Shopian and Srinagar.
According to news agency while Addressing Lawyers at Regal Chowk Mian Abdul Qayoom, President, J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar, said that four persons at Shopian were killed by the CRPF personnel, without any
justification, cause or reason. He also told the gathering that a man was shot at Budshah Chowk Srinagar without any justification. The President also informed the gathering that Zubin Mehta was allowed to perform at Srinagar by the Central and State Govt. Agencies only to hoodwink the world community, so as to make them to believe that everything is normal in Kashmir.
He also stated that the statement made by Dr. Farooq Abdullah regarding the non-conducting of an inquiry in the Shopian incident
also points out to the giving of free hand to the Indian Armed Forces to kill the innocent people of J&K and to suppress the freedom
struggle, launched by the people of Kashmir for achieving the goal of right of self-determination. Later in Sadder Court complex a number of speakers addressed the gathering of lawyers and impressed upon them, to unite and follow the decision of the Bar Association in letter and spirit and also give their suggestions for responding effectively to the day to day happenings in the State of J&K.
