Jammu: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said shielding corrupt people on top level would worsen the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

“I do not think that anybody is a holy cow. Shielding corrupt people has worsened the situation in the state.

The situation will never change the way it is being handled by the government,” Ms Mufti told reporters in view of JKCA Scam outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly here.

The PDP leader said, “we have presented all the real and genuine papers on JKCA embezzlement but the Speaker Legislative Assembly brought privilege motion against us asserting that they were ‘false’ documents.” “We have just waved the papers in the House. How does the Speaker know whether they were genuine or false,” she added.

Ms Mufti further said the papers belonged to the Jammu and Kashmir Bank and the JKCA itself adding, “The Government is at back-foot on the issue of corruption and they have nothing to discuss.” She asserted that the Government of India, Union Sports Ministry and the BCCI should immediately intervene into the matter and clear the dust so that necessary action can be initiated against the JKCA president.

“It is unfortunate that a man like Suresh Kalmadi, faced the punishment in CWG scam then whey Dr Farooq is being spared,” she lamented.

National Conference has never allowed PDP to work in a healthy atmosphere, she alleged and said, “Discussion will make things transparent and let the people differentiate between the right and the wrong.” (KMW NEWS)
