Sheikh-ul-Alam Park to be developed as amusement park: Sagar

SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar, along with a team of officers, today visited Mir Zabagh and Dar Mohalla in Khanyar constituency to assess the problems of the people of the area.
Chief Engineer, UEED, Director Floriculture Mr. H.P. Singh, officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Social Welfare and other departments accompanied the minister.
A large number of people met the minister who presented various demands construction of drain, footbridge and renovation of Sheikh-ul Alam park.
Mr. Sagar said that Rs. 1.35 crore drainage project has already been formulated which on completion would mitigate the drainage problem of the whole area. He instructed offices of SMC to develop Sheikh-ul-Alam park as an amusement park so that the children of the area can enjoy this facility fully. He also instructed them to ensure proper fencing of the Park and Jinazgah.
Mr. Sagar was informed that STP Brari Nambal is on final stage and likely to be completed by March next year.
He asked people to provide land for construction of a proposed college for which compensations would be given as per the norms. He said Government has launched a big development programme across the State to ensure equitable development of all the three regions. He appealed people to cooperate with the executing agencies in completion of the projects.
Earlier, the Minister reviewed the beatification plan of Miskeen Bagh and asked concerned officers to come up with a detailed project report so that line departments would be asked to start work on the project accordingly.
