SRINAGAR: An awareness programme camp on female feticide was organized by the State Commission for Women at Kalatra Payeen, Sangrama district Baramulla in which Chairman of the Commission, Mtr. Shamima Firdous was the Chief guest.
The Chairman on the occasion highlighted the importance of organizing such camps for making women folk aware about their rights and said they can approach the Commission whenever they require the help.
She said that it is the women who is playing important role in the society and when the women is educated, respected which in turn will lead to the development and prosperity of the nation. Regarding the female feticide, she said that it is heinous crime for which women fold should come forward and play their role to curb this menace.
She expressed sorrow over the decline of the female ratio and said persons involved in female feticide would be dealt under law and the clinics involved in this trade would be sealed and fined. She also expressed sorrow over the recent dowry death case.
Various speakers on the occasion threw light on the women improvement and female feticide.
A large number of people participated in the awareness camp.
