 SRINAGAR, JUNE 18 : Jammu Kashmir Peoples Movement led by Shah Faesal and Awami Itehaad Party led by Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh on Tuesday entered into pre-poll alliance.

Addressing a press conference at Press Club Srinagar Er Rasheed said that this alliance will continue even after the elections, adding that they believe they will get the majority of the seats here and will form the next government on their own.

“We have come together at a time when the state is in dire need of revival. We have named our alliance as “Peoples United Front’,” Shah Faesal said while addressing a presser at the Press Club Kashmir in Srinagar.

He said that they will not let the people down and give them a credible alternative and a force to reckon with.

Faesal said that they hope the people from all regions and religions will support Peoples United Front.

Er Rasheed said that Peoples United Front will be a credible voice for the people of the state. “Peoples United Front will be a credible alternative to the all three divisions of the state and people should be given equal right in all three divisions,” said Er Rasheed.

The front they formed today has been named as Peoples United Front. They said that there was a dire need of entering into an alliance ahead of the assembly polls.

Er Rasheed said that they are open for talks to anyone, saying anybody having Common agenda is welcomed.

Shah Faesal said that the front has been formed with motive to provide people a credible political alternative.

“In view of the prevailing political circumstances in the state, the Awami Itehad Party and JKPM have decided to enter into a pre-poll alliance and gather under the banner of Peoples United Front.

“The alliance has been necessitated by the ongoing political uncertainty in the state, apprehensions with regard to assaults on the special status and the absence of any credible political alternative that could address both the political vacuum and the absence of good governance.

“The Peoples United Front will make all efforts to unite the state’s people, irrespective of religion, region, caste and creed and seek for all citizens of the state equal opportunities and social, economical and political justice,” Faesal read out a statement jointly released by him and Rashid.
