Srinagar, Nov 11: Former Hurriyat (M) chairman and president of Muslim Conference, Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat on Friday said that all mainstream and separatist parties should join hands to resolve Kashmir issue.

Stressing Indian and Pakistan to devise a mechanism for result oriented parleys for the resolution of Kashmir issue, he said that the lingering Kashmir issue has been the main cause of tension and instability between India and Pakistan .
“A leader should have capacity, integrity, competence and farsightedness coupled with decision making power to lead his people but unfortunately in Kashmir everyone is leader, we have only leaders around but no people. Leadership should not be imposed, it shout emerge”, said professor Bhat .
Saying that we remember the promise made by Jawahar Lal Nehru of plebiscite which he made amid the roar of gun and noise of claims of democracy, Prof Bhat said people of Kashmir are very sharp than many people around in Sub Continent, have always maintained that if India and Pakistan leadership move towards a meaningful dialogue to solve Kashmir, we (Kashmiris) would support such a process provided both the countries take into account the aspirations and emotions of Kashmiris.
Prof Bhat said that by relegating Kashmir issue to backburner, the entire South Asia would get plunged into instability and insecurity, adding, a small spark can stoke fires in the entire region.
“My book ‘Beyond Me’ is a confession of things which I couldn’t do but were doable. It is about the events upto 1986. In next book I will talk about the current situation,” he said.
“We remember the promise made by Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Lal Nehru of plebiscite which he made amid the roar of gun and noise of claims of democracy in Lal Chowk.”
By relegating the Kashmir issue to backburner, the entire South Asia would get plunged into instability and insecurity, he added.
