Srinagar: Taking strong exception to Medical Education, Sports and Youth Affaris Minister, Taj Mohiuddin’s statement wherein he had ruled out Self Rule document of the PDP as a viable solution to Kashmir issue, Peoples Democratic Party today hit back at the minister asking him to concentrate on matters of the department under his control.
While rejecting the people’s Democratic Party’s ‘self rule’ formula Taj Mohiuddin had Thursday said that such formulae are ‘irrelevant’ within the Indian Constitution.
“Kashmiri people are being deceived since 1975. Congress is the only party which believes in ground reality and has the guts to call black as black and white as white” the senior Congress leader had said in his address to party workers at Congress headquarters in Srinagar.
While hitting back at the Congress stalwart, PDP Chief Spokesman said the self rule formula of his party is ‘already a work in progress’. “It was recently reported that several children had died at the G B Pant hospital due to power failure. Rather than issuing statements on matters like self rule, Taj Mohiuddin should concentrate on his departmental issues”, Party Chief Spokesman Nayeem Akhter told on Friday. He said there are serious allegations pending against the minister and ‘he should first clear his name from such allegations’.
“PDP is proud of its agenda and several stakeholders of Jammu and Kashmir issue are seriously debating the self rule document. In fact self rule is already a solution in progress. PDP agenda is not the last word but it could a possible solution of Kashmir”, Akhter added.
Nayeem Akhter said Trade and travel across the LoC is and was a part of PDP the agenda ‘but unfortunately due to change of guard it did not flourish’. “Otherwise Taj Mohiuddin would have seen the biggest change in the constituency he represents”, Akther added.
