Srinagar, March 19: In what can be major boost to the India Pakistan relationship, the much-hyped Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan are likely to be held within a week, even as both sides are still discussing the progress made after the recent ceasefire on the borders.
Sources state that for India terror still remains a major issue while for Pakistan Kashmir still remains a major issue.
These talks are likely to break path open for major talks maybe heads of the state in coming times.
Just few weeks back, Pakistan had reaffirmed its offer for dialogue and table talks to India, asking it not to shy away from negotiations on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our only dispute is Kashmir and it can only be resolved through dialogue. Pakistan has never shied away from talks and has always called for peaceful resolution to all outstanding disputes, including the internationally recognised dispute of Jammu and Kashmir,” a Foreign Office spokesperson had said.
It is worth mentioning here after the announcement of a joint ceasefire last month, Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa said it is time to bury the past and move forward.
Tying Kashmir dispute to “peace” between the two “nuclear neighbours”, Bajwa said it is important to understand that without the resolution of the dispute through peaceful means, the “process will always remain susceptible to derailment to politically motivated bellicosity.”
These Secretary level talks and recent thaw in relation in form of Border ceasefire come at a time when India Pakistan have seen lowest in relations.
Experts state that with these secretary level talks more optimism is offered in India Pakistan relationship .
