Second major rail accident in UP in the past 4 days

Lucknow: The derailment of 12311 UP Kalka Mail at Malwan station near Fatehpur today in which at least 22 people have been killed so far is the second rail accident in Uttar Pradesh in the past four days.
On Thursday, 38 members of a marriage party were killed when their bus collided with a train in Kanshiram Nagar district at an unmanned railway crossing.
Railways had announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each to the family of the victims in the train -bus collision.
Following are some of the important rail accidents in UP in the past over two decades.
June 13, 1985: Thirty-eight people were killed and about 50 injured when an express train collided with a goods train in Agra.
April 18, 1988: At least 75 people were killed when Karnataka Express derailed near Lalitpur in the state while on August 20, 1995, over 400 people killed when Puroshottam Express rammed Kalindi Express near Firozabad railway station.
On April 18, 1996 over 60 people were killed as Gorakhpur-Gonda passenger train rammed a stationary goods train at Domingarh near Gorakhpur.
On May 12, 2002: 12 people were killed when the New Delhi-Patna Shramjeevi Express derailed in Jaunpur while on June 4, 2002, Thirty-four people were killed when the Kasgunj Express rammed a bus at a rail crossing in Farrukhabad.
Twenty-two people were killed and 26 injured when the Goa Express rammed the Mewar Express at Banjana on the Mathura-Vrindavan section of the Northern Railway on October 21, 2009.
On January 2, 2010: Three accidents involving five trains took place Etawah due to dense fog conditions, killing fifteen people.
On January 16, 2010: Three people died and around a dozen were injured when two express trains — Kalindi Express and Shram Shakti Express — collided in thick fog near Kanpur.
