Saleem Reshi Assials State Government over poor flood preparedness

Srinagar, Sep 6: Expressing grave concern over the poor arrangements put in place to tackle devastating floods in Kashmir, Independent Politician and candidate Zadibal constituency Saleem Akhter Malik has blasted the government over the lackluster performance. Saleem Reshi stated “The mechanism put in to place to tackle the flooding was nowhere in possible and no proper drudging bund building around rivers was carried out thus situation took an ugly turn and looses of flooding are mounting throughout the state. It is a matter of great shame that the J&K government resorted to “lethargic” approach to alert people to prepare for the predicted hostile weather—that is wreaking havoc across Jammu and Kashmir. On September 2 (Tuesday), the Meteorological department had predicted moderate rain along with thunder showers at most places across J&K for next four days. But, next day, the department warned of “rather moderate to heavy rain/thundershower at most places with very heavy falls at few places.” Saleem Reshi added that Chief Minister and other ministers are camping in few urban areas while as majority of areas are getting no help. Saleem Reshi appealed to disaster management authorities especially Air Force to rescue trapped people as traditional methods to rescue people are failing inview of hazardous pace of overflowing rivers.
