Sagar took stock of Eid arrangements

SRINAGAR: The Minister for Rural Development, Panchyati Raj, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has asked the officer to put in place a pool proof mechanism to ensure that people do not face any inconvenience in view of the ensuing Eid festivities.

The Minister was speaking at a high level meeting convened to discuss the arrangements being made in view of the ensuing Shab-i-Qadar, Jumat-ul-Vida and the Eid festivity.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Samoon, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar. Mr. Baseer Ahmed Khan, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Mr. S.M. Sahai, Commissioner, SMC, Mr. Dr. G.N. Qasba, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Shakil-ur- Rehman, Chief Engineer R&B, Mr. Mushtaq Lone, DIG, Traffic, Mr. Shafqat Watali,Chief Engineer, PDD, Mr. Muzafar Matoo, Regional Transport Officer Kashmir, Mr. Anees Khan and other senior officers of different departments and representatives of various trader bodies were present.
Mr. Sagar impressed upon the officers to work in close co-ordination and synergy to ensure that all the basic facilities are provided to the people. He said that they should conduct regular checks of the market so that the black marketing and hoarding is checked and people get goods at their prescribed rates. In this regard the department of CA&PD should ensure that the exorbitant rates are not being charged by the shopkeepers from the Eid shoppers, he maintained.
The Minister also directed the officers to ensure that people get adequate supply of the electric power especially during the coming Shab-i- Qadar. He said that they should see to it that the catchment areas of various shrines were big congregation are held get uninterrupted supply of power, water and other allied facilities. “The street lights being installed in various areas should also be made fully functional and in this regard the department of PDD should work in co-ordination with the SMC to ensure the same”, he added.
Mr. Sagar also asked the Regional Transport Officer to ensure that adequate public transportation is made available on the various routes especially during the morning and late hours so that people coming from far off places do not face any in convenience. He directed the traffic authorities to ensure that better traffic regulation on the roads in view of the heavy rush of vehicle being witnessed on the festivity days. (KMW News)
