Sagar reviews Srinagar city projects

Directs officers to complete the targets within stipulated time.

SRINAGAR: The Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar on Thursday said that the State Government is totally committed to provide basic amenities to the people of the State like road connectivity, better roads, health care, drinking water, transport facilities etc.
This was stated by the Minister at a high level meeting convened under his chairmanship here today.
The meeting was attended by the District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Chief Engineers of PDD, PHE, UEED, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineer and Joint Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues particularly the progress of the ongoing city projects including Syed Meerakshah road, Circular road, expansion projects of Makhdoom Sahib, Naqashband Sahib, Bulbul Sahib, Dastigeer Sahib, were also discussed besides the beautification and restoration of the old glory of the centuries old historical Jamia Masjid in the heart of the city.
It was given out in the meeting that two flyovers would be constructed of the length of the 902 metres including 510 metres length from Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital to Chattipadshahi crossing at a cost of Rs. 23 crores and other at a cost of Rs. 18 crores of the length of 392 metres from Higher Secondary School to Saida Kadal, Srinagar.
The meetingwas also informed that the proposal of the said projects have already been submitted to the Government for approval.
While reviewing the progress made in the ongoing construction work in connection with expansion/renovation of some old Shrines of Srinagar, it was given out the construction work is in full swing at Dastigeer Sahib Shrine. It was said that Rs. 9.50 crore out of availability of Rs. 15 crores have been spent on the construction work for the expansion site against the project cost of Rs. 59.86 crores. It was also informed that under the project, 14 structures out of 15 have been removed while the remaining would also be dismantled soon.
Informing the Minister about the latest progress of the construction work at Naqashband Sahib, he was told that construction work at a cost of Rs.10.50 lakhs is in full swing. He was also informed that 11structures out of 33 structures have been removed till date and the process of removing other structures are on.
While reviewing the progress of the widening of the circular road, it gi9ven out that work on the expansion of the Ali Kadal road to Nawa Kadal via Bulbul lanker is going on and the projected would be completed at a cost of Rs. 17.10 lakhs.
Mr. Sagar was informed by the concerned officers that under the renovation/expansion project of Bulbul Sahib, Rs. one crore has been spent on various construction works against the estimated cost of Rs. 227.61 lakhs. The meeting was told that the project would be completed very soon. However, the project requires additional Rs. 97 lakhs for its early completion.
Mr. Sagar also was informed that one community hall will also be constructed at Makhdoom Sahib at a cost of Rs.1.20 lakh and the work on this project will be started within one week.
Meanwhile, the Minister asked the District Development Commissioner, Srinagar to have the progress monitored of all the ongoing city projects so that they may be completed within the time frame.
The Minister complimented efforts of the divisional administration for taking pains for executing the project of beautification and restoration of pristine glory of the Jamia Masjid where development of the Muslim Park, besides construction of interpretation centre and cafeteria is in the pipeline.
