SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today asked the divisional administration to make fool proof arrangements for providing essential commodities and maintenance of essential services so that people do not face any inconvenience on the auspicious festival of Eid-ul-Azha.
The Minister was speaking at a high level meeting convened to review the arrangements for ensuing Eid-ul-Azha at Banquet Hall, Srinagar today.
The Minister directed the concerned departments to make available the essential commodities like rice, wheat, atta, sugar, LPG at reasonable prices at all the established outlets and sale depots. He said that Qurbani animals be made available at eight mandies established in the city and adhere to the instruction in selling these animals on the said places.
The Minister directed for ensuing fool proof security arrangements at major towns and district headquarters of the Valley. The transport facilities, potable drinking water, electricity be made available on this auspicious festival, he added.
The Minister also directed for maintaining cleanliness around the major Eid Gahs, mosques and setting up of first aid centres for the people offering Eid prayers for which he said that concerned departments will work in coordination with Auqaf Trust. He also directed for constituting market checking squads so that black marketing, hoarding can be curbed affectively.
Earlier, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir brief the Minister about the arrangements made by the divisional administration for ensuring smooth peaceful Eid and was informed that there is buffer stock of essential commodities and presently 40,000 metric tons of rice, 6,000 metric tons of wheat, 4,000 metric tons of sugar and 1,53,000 gas cylinders are available in the Valley.
The Minister was also informed that road map has been prepared for ensuring smooth traffic during Eid which will be published through media for the conveyance of the people.
The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, IGP Kashmir, Mr. S.M. Sahai, Vice Chairman, Auqaf Trust, Mr. M.Y. Qadiri, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
