SRINAGAR: The Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary affairs Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today undertook a review of the arrangements being made by the district administration for the smooth conduct of annual Urs of Shah-i-Hamdan Sahib (RA) being held at Khankah Mohalla in old city Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Asgar Samoon, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Mehraj Ahmed Kakroo, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed , Chief Engineers PDD, R&B, PHE, SP Traffic Mr. Maqsood-u-Zaman, RTO Kashmir, Mr. Anees Khan and other senior officers of different departments.
The Minister directed the officers to ensure that the devotees coming to offer their obeisance to the revered shrine do not face any inconvenience, adding they should work in complete synergy to ensure the smooth celebration of the Urs days.
Mr. Sagar directed the RTO to ensure the necessary arrangements of the public transport especially during the morning and evening prayers. He said that the devotees come from different corners across the division to pay their obeisance and they should not face any problem with regard to the transportation facilities. He also asked the SP Traffic to ensure that proper route information and monitoring of transportation is ensured.
The Minister also directed the Chief Engineer PDD to ensure that the areas coming in the vicinity of the shrine get uninterrupted power supply during the Urs days and necessary direction should be passed in this regard.
While directing the officers of the Municipal Corporation to ensure that proper cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in the vicinity and the catchment areas of the shrine, the Minister said that they should also ensure that the proper street lighting is done with the active cooperation of the PDD authorities.
The Minister later accompanied by the officers conducted a personal tour of the area to get the first hand information about the arrangements and the suggestions being offered by the locals and administration of the shrine for the smooth conduct of the Urs.
