JAMMU: Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar has condemned the firing incident in Boniyar and said that the state government has already taken pro-active action in the matter and is determined to ensure that the guilty are punished and exemplary punishment is doled out.

Mr. Sagar however, regretted Mehbooba Mufti’s statement blaming the National Conference and its leadership for today’s incident. He said it is unfortunate that the PDP has made a habit of playing politics on tragedies which beset the people of Kashmir.
Mr. Sagar said that he wants to ask only two questions to Mehbooba Mufti, One while the PDP was in power between 2002 to 2008 (wherein the crucial portfolios of Finance and Planning were with PDP), how many additional mega watts of power did they produce in the state or took initiative to add generation capacity of the state and Two how many power projects did PDP get back for the state from the Union government.
Mr. Sagar said PDP has been in power in the state and Mufti Sayeed has also run the state during Governor’s rule as Union Home Minister why he did not take initiatives in this regard. He said before blaming National Conference they should look inwards and answer these questions, because for their lack of initiative on these two fronts the state is paying a heavy price today.
He said the state government headed by Omar Abdullah has already set the ball rolling to increase the generation capacity in the state as also to take back the state’s power projects from the Union government to ensure a long term solution to the power crisis of the state. (KMW News)
