SRINAGAR, (KMW News): Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar and the Minister of State for Home, Industries and Commerce, Mr. Sajad Ahmad Kichloo today asked the officers of various departments to work in close coordination for putting in place foolproof arrangements for smooth conduct of ensuing Mehraj-ul-Nabi (SAW) celebrations.
Speaking at a meeting convened to review arrangements for the holy Mehraj-ul-Nabi (SAW) here today, the Ministers asked the divisional administration especially police and traffic departments to make foolproof transport arrangements for carrying devotees to and fro Hazratbal shrine, where the biggest function will be held with great religious fervor and gaiety.
The Regional Transport Officer Kashmir was asked to ensure that the devotees get traffic facilities even in late hours for their convenience to visit Dargah Hazratbal for Shabkhwani and prayers.
The Power Department was asked to ensure un-interrupted power supply during the holy days in and around the Dargah Sharief and other important and major shrines and mosques in the Kashmir division. The SMC Srinagar and LAWDA will ensure street lighting and cleanliness around the Hazratbal shrine and other major mosques and shrines in the Srinagar city. The CA&PD has been directed to provide additional quota of rice, sugar and kerosene oil to the people of Hazratbal.
The Health Department will setup First Aid Centres and put ambulances readily available to meet any eventuality. Various voluntary organizations set up camps for guiding the people and offering drinking water to the devotees.
The meeting among others was attended by the Vice Chairman Waqaf Board Dr. M. Y. Qadri, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, SSP Srinagar Syed Ashaq Bukhari, Regional Transport Officer Kashmir Mr Anees Ahmad, senior officers and engineers of various departments including PHE, PDD, CAPD, Health, LAWDA, Municipality, R&B etc.
