Srinagar: The Centre has released Rs 15 crore for computerisation of land records in Jammu and Kashmir.
The state government is considering amendments in the Land Acquisition Act and the J&K Resident Certificate Act to make them people friendly.
An official spokesman said the Central government has released an amount of Rs 15 crore for computerisation of land records on priority basis.
He said the Revenue department has prepared a roadmap for computerisation and digitalisation of land records in the state.
Referring to the computerisation of land records of Revenue department, he said records of Poonch and Rajouri districts have been fully computerised while the process in Jammu, Samba and R S Pora was in advanced stage.
Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla stressed on construction of modern record rooms especially, in far-flung areas so that the revenue records were made available to the masses.
Mr Bhalla informed that Revenue department has earned Rs 5.5 crore on account of leasing, rent charges and transfer of Evacuees Property during last six months after introducing a new policy in this regard.
The minister said the policy introduced by the government regarding safeguarding and usage of the Evacuees Property have yielded good results.
However, he said the policy needs to be implemented in letter and spirit so that desired results are achieved. He instructed the officers to make people aware about the policy.
