Pune, Oct 17 With Captain Rohit Sharma rolling his arms to bowl some off-spin at nets, has raised doubts whether specialist off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will get a chance to play against Bangladesh at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium here on Tuesday.
Surprisingly, Rohit got all the tips on off-spin from Ashwin during the next session. Bangladesh have four left-handed batsmen, and this could have prompted India’s think-tank to want Rohit to bowl a few overs of off-spin, without disturbing the batting lineup.
Rohit has not bowled in ODIs since 2016 against Australia in Perth after suffering shoulder injury. The India opener is no mug with the ball. He has the distinction of registering a hat-trick in an IPL match.
In Tests, Rohit bowled two overs in the 2021 Chennai match.
