Rajnath takes stock of Haryana security at high-level meeting ahead of Ram Rahim’s sentencing

New Delhi, Aug 28: Home Minister Rajnath Singh today chaired a high-level meeting ahead of the CBI court in Rohtak pronouncing quantum of punishment to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim who was convicted of rape on Friday.

Lakhs of followers of the controversial self-styled godman had went on rampage across Haryana after the court in Panchkula delivered the judgement, leading to deployment of the Army to control the violence, in which over 30 people had been killed.

The sentencing is expected at 1430 hrs.

The Army has also surrounded the Dera premises in Sirsa town of the state.

Meanwhile, a senior Home official said here that the Haryana DGP had assured the Centre that the situation was under control and all security arrangements had been made.
