Rajendra describes cyber crime a challenge to law enforcing agencies

SRINAGR, MAY 26: Describing cyber crime a challenge to law enforcing agencies, the Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar has stressed on coordinated efforts to bring awareness about the menace.
Mr. Rajendra was speaking at the inaugural session of 14th Workshop on Cybercrime Awareness for Law Enforcing Agencies, organized by Department of Electronics & Communication Technology, Union Ministry of Communication & Information Technology. The 2-day workshop in collaboration with CID Headquarters J&K was held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today.
Mr. Rajendra said that cyberspace is acknowledged as the fifth domain of human activity, the others being land, sea, air and outer space. As the internet has grown exponentially in its reach and scope, our dependence security purposes has also grown exponentially. Unfettered access to information through a globally inter-connected internet empowers individuals and governments, but at the same time poses new challenges, hitherto unheard, unseen, unimagined to the privacy of individuals and to the capabilities of governments and administrators of cyberspace.
Mr. Rajendra appreciated the efforts of organizers for their relentless efforts to organise such workshop. He said that the workshop would help to establish cyber security among the concerned agencies. He also thanked ADGP CID, Mr. S. M. Sahai and his team of officers, who cooperated to organise the path- breaking event which was first workshop of its kind in the State. He said that the workshop is a step forward to creating awareness regarding cyber crime and preparedness of law enforcing agencies.
DGP said that it is a recognized fact that cyber space is a source of great opportunity and cyber security has become a major concern. We all need to act now to protect ourselves from the menace of cyber attacks, he added. He said that the workshop would help to establish cyber security among the concerned agencies.
Earlier, ADGP CID, Mr. S. M. Sahai said that cyber crime is emerging as a major challenge to mankind and the law enforcing agencies have to brace up and face the challenge. He asked to make investigating officers aware of the challenge and make them fully conversant with the techniques to deal with such crimes.
During the workshop the experts from Union Ministry of Communications, Rama Vedashree, Vice President NASSCOM and Dr. A. S. Kamble, Senior Director CERT-IN and Dr. Venkatesh Murthy, Expert Cyber Crime also highlighted the importance of role of CERT-IN in Cyber Crimes Prevention and awareness workshop among the participants. They chaired their expertise with the attendants to handle cyber crimes and use latest techniques like cyber forensic and other information technology tools.
The inaugural session also attended by ADsGP, Navin Aggerwal and VK Singh, IsGP, HK Lohia, MA Khan, SL Sharma and MA Ganai, AIsGP, Dr. M. Hasseb Mughal, Sheikh Junaid Ahmed, Tahir Sajad, Sheikh Zulfikar Azad and Kulbir Singh, SSsP, Mubashir Latifi and Shahid Mehraj, Dy.SsP Musadiq Basu, Amit Verma, Zaffar, Farooq Ahmed, KT Singh, Liyakat Qadri, Sr.Pos, Rajesh Khajouria, Anuj Gupta and other police officers.
