Rajendra chairs high level meeting, reviews Eid arrangements

SRINAGAR, JULY 04: In order to review the deployment arrangements at different places in the State during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar convened a high level meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) here today. The meeting also discussed law and order situation and other arrangements put in place.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from police, CRPF, civil administration and intelligence agencies.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Rajendra stressed on maintaining law and order, besides providing a congenial atmosphere to the people so that they could observe the festival without facing any inconvenience. He said that people’s security is our prime concern and all resources should be utilized to make the celebrations peaceful. Sufficient manpower should be deployed at the places where congregational Eid prayers are held, he added. Situation should be assessed by the concerned supervisory officers and required arrangements should be taken to foil any untoward incident, said Mr. Rajendra.
During the meeting, the DGP sought reports from various officers regarding the arrangements made by their respective wings in different cities and town. Officers present in the meeting included ADsGP SM Sahai, Dilbag Singh, L Mohanti, IGP Traffic, Viplav Kumar, range DIsGP, SSP Srinagar briefed the DGP about the deployment and traffic plan for the Eid celebrations.
IGP Kashmir Zone, Mr. SJM Gillani informed the meeting about the arrangements made at different places. He said that all arrangements have been put in place to ensure law and order across the Valley so that Eid prayers and other celebrations conclude peacefully.
DGP asked the officers to formulate a comprehensive traffic plan in major cities so that busy markets and places remain hassle free. He also asked the officers to cooperate with the civil administration and other stakeholders to make the arrangements successful. He said that strict action under law should be taken against the persons indulging in malpractices.
Mr. Rajendra said that the places where the congregational prayers are held should be sensitised and CCTV cameras should be installed at the vital locations in order to keep vigil on the activities of anti social elements. He said that additional men and machinery should be kept available to deal with any situation.
The meeting was attended by Spl. DG (Coordination), SK Mishra, ADsGP, SM Sahai, Dilbag Singh and L. Mohanti, JD, IB, Harmeet Singh, DIsGP, Nitish Kumar, GH Bhat and Uttam Chand, DIG CRPF North Srinagar, Sanjeev Dhundia, Additional Commissioner SB, M. Rajamurgan, Additional Commissioner Kashmir, AR War, Dy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. FA Lone. SP North, Sajad Khalid and SP Hazratbal, Peerzada Naveed and other police officers.
