Rains, snow increase cold across country

ISLAMABAD: Intermittent rain and snowfall over hills in upper and central parts of the country turned the weather more cold while the met department has predicted more rains and snowfall up-country, News reported.

According to met Office‚ two foot snowfall was recorded in Murre and Kalam while one foot in Parachinar and Rawalakot on Friday while more rain has been predicted in the twin cities, Gujranwala, Malakand, Hazara, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Snowfall on hilltops is also expected.
Murree had received its first snowfall of the winter season as many other cities of the country were delighted with the first rain of the season. The snowfall wrapped the whole area in white layer of snow, which caused both delight and trouble for the people.
Due to snowfall the vehicular traffic also remained suspended on some roads however traffic resumed after most of the roads were cleared. Police and rescue officials were trying there best to get the tourists out of their misery but to no avail, as there seemed to be no letup in the inclemency of the weather.
On the other hand people had rushed towards Malka Kohsar and other picnic spots. The maximum of 47 millimeter rain was recorded in Kotli‚ Azad Kashmir and 44 millimeters in Malam Jabba.
The upper areas of Neelam and Leepa vallies also received heavy rain and snowfall. Besides the capital city of Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Rawalakot (Poonch) Kotli, Bhimbher and other cities received heavy rain that started in Friday.
Thandiyani, Nathiagali, Donga Gali, Changla Gali, Ayubia and surrounding hilly areas of Galyat received heavy snowfall.
Traffic police has advised tourists not to travel to hilly areas and avoid traveling in late hours.
