Srinagar, Mar 1: Wet weather has again eluded Kashmir valley, where the Meteorological department had earlier predicted isolated rain-snow from tomorrow for next five days.
However, a forecast issued by the Met department this afternoon said the weather will remain dry during the next 48 hours in the Kashmir valley which is in total contrast of forecast of last evening which had predicted isolated rain for five days from March 2nd.
The Kashmir valley received less rain and snow this winter after about seven decades, and the mercury during the day remained also 8 degree to 10 degree above normal during last month, presenting Spring like weather conditions during three Chilias, which was being considered harshest period of winter.
The summer capital did not receive enough snowfall this winter and people had to visit hilly areas to enjoy snow this winter.
The mercury remained above normal in the Kashmir valley while people in Ladakh region continued to shiver though there was some improvement in the minimum temperature at Leh and Kargil.
Pahalgam, the world famous health resort in south Kashmir, about 100 km from here remained coldest in the valley though the mercury was still above normal. Against yesterdays minus 1.3 degree, the minimum temperature there was minus 2.4 degree.
The maximum temperature at Pahalgam, base camp of holy Amarnath pilgrimage, was also nine degree above normal, resulting in melting of snow on upper heights. The famed ski resort of Gulmarg, where snow on upper reaches is also melting very fast due to nine degree above normal maximum temperature yesterday, the minimum temperature was minus 1 degree, four notches above normal.
