Srinagar: After remaining suspended for nearly five months, the Baramulla-Qazigund rail service would resume its operation tomorrow, official sources told KMW here.
They said that the track repair works have been completed alongside redeployment of adequate security along the path for smooth working of the service, suspended in July following unrest in the Kashmir Valley.
They said that the resumption of Qazigund-Baramulla rail service would take place in two phases.
“In the first phase, services would resume on Qazigund-Budgam track, they said. In the second phase, the services would resume on Budgam-Baramulla track. However no time frame has been fixed for the re-start of the services. “The 50-kilometer railway line between Budgam and Baramulla has still some repair works pending and it may take time,” the sources said.
The decision to resume the services, they said, was taken at a high level security review meeting of Railways in Jammu on December 15.
Sources said that all logistic requirements like rising of barracks, tele-communication network, police stations and posts, land acquisition, night vigil have been finalized. Sources said that authorities have also decided to deploy sufficient lady staff at stations to facilitate female passengers.
