PUC reviews J&K Bank performance

JAMMU: Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) of Legislative Assembly today asked the J&K Bank Limited authorities to furnish a detailed report about deposits and advance within and outside the State for the scrutiny of the committee members.
The Committee, which met here under the Chairmanship of MLC Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Taing, discussed in detail the CAG’s audit Report 2006-07 pertaining to J&K Bank Limited about non-recovery of debt.
Threadbare discussion was also held on various issues including Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and over drafts.
The Committee members Mr. Kafeel-ur-Rehman, Advocate Abdul Haq, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Jan, Mr. Charanjit Singh and Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan stressed upon the officers of the Finance department to submit information about NPAs of the bank outside the State for the scrutiny of the Committee. The Committee also directed for speed up of recovery of loans.
Likewise, the Committee also asked the bank to furnish the list of appointments made by it during the last 8 years.
Among others, Principal Accountant General, J&K AG’s Office, Mr. Venkatish Mohan, Director General Accounts and Treasuries Mr. Wali Mohammad Bhat, Special Secretary, Finance Mr. Mushtaq Sidiqi, President (Business) J&K Bank Ltd. Mr. Abdul Rouf and other senior officers from Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
