Distributes cheques worth Rs. 90.75 lakh under IAY
TANGMARG, KMW News: Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir said that government is striving for providing financial assistance to the people of below poverty line category in rural and urban areas of the state for constructing houses so that the poverty and backwardness is removed from the state.
The Minister was addressing a public meeting at Kunzer, Tangmarg organised for distribution of cheques under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) and said that the assistance would be provided to the targeted population in a phased manner.
The Minister said that Panchs and Sarpanchs have to play a vital role in implementing the government programmes at the grass root level, adding that they have to work in close coordination with the concerned departments so that the benefits of development could reach to the people particularly downtrodden.
The Minister on this occasion distributed cheques worth Rs. 90.75 lakh among the 371 beneficiaries of Tangmarg and Kunzer blocks. He was informed that under NREGA 403 works have been taken up in block Tangmarg at the cost of Rs. 3.28 crore providing 1.79 lakh mandays to the people. Besides 6600 job cards were issued under the scheme.
Earlier, the Minister instructed the engineers for construction of protection bund on Sakinar river at Magam. He also instructed the cleaning and fencing of Kawnagh spring of the area.
He was accompanied by Executive Engineer, Irrigation, Budgam and BDOs of Kunzer and Tangmarg.
