According to reports received by KMW, Ghulam Hassan Geelani, Farooq Renzu Shah, Tafazul Hassan, Wali Mohammad Dar, G.M.Gulzar, Bashir Ahmad Shah, Ghulam Hassan Rather, Abdul Rashid Malla, Mushtaq Bazaz and Waseem Shalla today joined the congress party after being welcomed by the Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Saif-ud-Din Soz here.
Speaking on the occasion, Soz said that the people of the state have strengthened the ground of congress party here and the participation of ‘prominent people’ in the state congress is the proof that the party has always believed in its secular and developmental ideology.
Former Director Information Farooq Renzu Shah when contacted said that the people in large number advised him to join congress and he joined the party also because it has the historical role in the sub-continent.
When asked about his future strategy for his political career, Farooq Renzu Shah told KMW that he will not allow anyone to raise hollow slogans and to befool people here. ”We have seen that some slogans being raised here by some parties actually befool people and my role in the politics would only be to soothe the blighted hearts of the people of my land.”
Reports further mention that the people who today joined congress were carried by the large number of people to the party headquarters here. “I was taken by thousands of people from Nishat to Congress headquarters at M. A. Road and people are optimistic that we could take the state to the new horizons of development and tranquility,” said Renzu.
Pertinently, in the recent past the list of the ‘Prominent Citizens’ joining congress met with the controversy when Farooq Abdullah’s political secretary Aslam Goni refuted the reports of joining congress. Although he later declared the he was contacted by Soz and that he has decided to join the party.
