Kargil, September 08: As part of the celebrations leading up to its 15th Raising Day on 21 September, Project Vijayak organised a Bike Rally from Kargil to Kargil War Memorial, Drass today.

The rally was graced by the presence of senior officers of the BRO and Armed Forces, along with the Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar and SSP Kargil Shree Raam R., as special guests from the civil administration.

Lending dignity and solemnity to the occasion, the rally was ceremonially flagged off by the Ex Commandant of the GREF Centre, Col V K Oberoi (Retd), an 82 year old veteran, whose presence embodied the living legacy of service and sacrifice, symbolising the unbroken spirit of Project Vijayak across generations.

A grand ceremonial gate erected at the flag-off site, decorated with banners and rally insignia, bore the details of the event, setting the stage for a memorable journey. The moment was further immortalised by a group photograph at the Vijayak Memorial, where bikers offered a solemn tribute to the fallen heroes of Project Vijayak whose legacy continues to inspire the entire BRO fraternity.

As the convoy of 35 bikers including BRO & Army personnel, district officials, media persons and local motorcycle enthusiasts moved in perfect discipline along NH-1, the enthusiasm of locals lining the route and the camaraderie shown by Army units deployed enroute turned the ride into a vibrant celebration of unity and remembrance.

The event was honoured by the presence of the General Officer Commanding, 8 Mountain Division, who interacted with the participants after the ceremony and lauded the contribution of Project Vijayak in Nation building and its sustained service to Ladakh under the harshest weather conditions. His words of encouragement added inspiration to the day’s events.

As the Bike rally concluded, it was a moment of pride and motivation for every one present, reinforcing that Vijayak’s journey is not just about roads built in Ladakh, but about the trust earned, challenges overcome, commitments honoured and contributions made to its path. That even amidst the most challenging terrains and weather conditions, Project Vijayak steadfastly upholds the BRO’s guiding motto: ‘Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam’, that is, everything is achievable through hardwork as also its own motto: ‘Vijayak – Always Victorious’!
