Srinagar, July 26:The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, paid his respects to soldiers and officers of the Indian Army who were martyred in the Kargil conflict of 1999 at the Chinar Corps (15 Corps) War Memorial in Srinagar today (July 26, 2019), on the 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas. This is the first visit of the President to Srinagar and to the Valley. On earlier visits to Jammu and Kashmir, he had visited the Ladakh and Jammu regions.

The President was scheduled to visit the Kargil War Memorial in Dras this morning, but the visit was called off due to inclement weather. Conditions were not suitable for air travel from Srinagar to Dras.
