ISLAMABAD, Jun 13 (KMW): President Mamnoon HusÂsain urged the international community on Friday to find a just solution to the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India.
Addressing a function at the Presidency attended by foreign officers who participated in the National Security and War CouÂrse 2014-15 at the National Defence UniÂverÂsity (NDU), Mr Hussain stressed the need for an early resolution of the Kashmir issue.
“We must continue to find ways and means for a just solution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people for lasting peace in the region,†he said.
Talking about the war on terrorism, he said Pakistan was committed to combating the menace of extremism and terrorism.
“The world realises that the phenomenon of terrorism transcends the interstate boundaries and requires a collaborative effort to overcome and defeat this menace,†he said.
“The people, the government and armed forces have taken up this challenge and our brave soldiers and innocent civilians are laying down their lives for this cause.â€
The president underlined the need for effective implementation of the National Action Plan for eradication of terrorism.
About the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he expressed the confidence that the project would not only accrue economic benefits for the country but also for the region. (Agency)
