SRINAGAR, JULY 28:  Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi, on Thursday said that Pakistan must holistically prepare its envoys in different countries regarding the Kashmir issue in order to fail the false Indian claims at the International level.

In a statement, Andrabi while welcoming the latest stand by the Government of Pakistan (GoP) with regard to Kashmir issue said that it (Pakistan) has now begun to understand its responsibility towards the people and their resistance movement in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The statement by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif, in which he has said that the GoP will take initiatives at the diplomatic and all other levels to highlight the Kashmir issue and will force India to shun its claim that Kashmir is its ‘integral part’, is yet another gesture that should be lauded. He also said that Kashmir is an internationally acclaimed dispute recognized by the UN and to which India is also a signatory.”

She said that another practical and rightful step that GoP has taken is that on July 29, it has called an emergency meeting of all its envoys in different countries across the world. “The envoys will be apprised and prepared to play an effective role in highlighting the Kashmir issue in the countries where they have been send as envoys,” she said.

She appealed the Pak PM to make its envoys aware about the Kashmir issue in its historical and all other relevant perspectives. “We believe that many people and the leaders in Pakistan are not much aware about the historical relevance of this issue, which is why they haven’t shown as much concern about this seven-decades-old dispute. This time around, however, because of resilience shown by the people of Kashmir from the past 20 days against the brutality unleashed by the occupational Indian forces, GoP has renewed its efforts to highlight this issue at international forums through its diplomatic channels,” she added.

“Every Kashmiri, today, is saying that they want freedom, so to take this resistance movement to its logical conclusion and to aware the world about what Kashmiris are facing, Pakistan must fulfil its duty and the responsibility,” she added.

She said the stand of Dukhataran-e-Millat is that India isn’t even a party to the Kashmir dispute. “India has forcefully occupied Kashmir and an occupier can’t be a party to the resolution of any dispute. The worldwide view that Kashmir is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan is also false as an occupier and colonizer can’t be made a party to it,” she said.

She said that Azad Kashmir hasn’t been occupied by Pakistan as India has occupied Jammu and Kashmir forcefully. “Pakistan hasn’t merged Azad Kashmir into the country and there is a Prime Minister of its own in Azad Kashmir. The GoP believes that Kashmir is a disputed territory and isn’t claiming Azad Kashmir as its part. This is a realistic approach of Pakistan,” she said.

“Despite the fact that we want to be the part of Pakistan, Pakistan doesn’t claim Kashmir as its part but on the other hand, India, forcefully, is trying to merge Kashmir and is unleashing every sort of brutality to fulfil its sinister dreams. This has been happening since 1947 but the people of JK have not accepted it and are struggling against it. It has to be told to the world,” she added.

She said that the International community must know that the sham elections held here by India isn’t a “referendum”. “Though a miniscule population votes in these sham election, those who vote also assert, in clear terms, that these votes are cast for the redressal of day-to-day problems and not to accept Indian claims on Kashmir. The world needs to be informed about these facts and Pakistan via its diplomats must do the same,” she added.

She said that these envoys must understand all the perspective of Kashmir issue and afterwards should act as advocates for the Kashmir and their resistance movement against illegal Indian occupation.” They must be able to put forward the viewpoint of Kashmiris to the whole world. They should tell the world that in 1947, the UN has given Kashmiris the right to self-determination; only Kashmiris can decide whether they want to be with Pakistan or India so how come India can claim that it is a party to this issue. It is the people of Kashmir who will decide where they want to go,” she added.

She said that it is imperative that the government of Pakistan takes all measures to fully prepare and appraise its envoys in the meeting to counter the sinister Indian narrative on Kashmir. “Without any legitimacy, India has made the world believe that Jammu and Kashmir isn’t a dispute which means that its diplomacy if strong than that of Pakistan. Now that Pakistan has decided to counter this Indian narrative at International forums, it must clarify all the perspectives of Kashmir issue, backed by logic and reality, to the world,” she said.

“ The least that can be done at this stage is that Pakistan must be able to persuade the world that JK isn’t India’s integral part but a dispute that needs to be resolved at the earliest,” she added.

Further, she urged people to march with discipline to Nowhatta on July 29 to make the Jamia Masjid march a success.
